​Janet (Siino) Martinez, author of Master Boat Builders  of Italy - The Siino Family - A Tribute to the Monterey Boat Works and Mark Siino, General Contractor and trim specialist both from Monterey County, grandchildren of Master Boat Builder Angelo Siino will be your guides through multimedia history of the Monterey Boat Works from 1916 to 1970. During this time, the Siinos [father (Angelo) and sons (Raymond and Frank)] built and repaired hundreds of wood fishing boats. Watch a video of the St. Bernadette and Miss Monterey being launched by Siino Master Boat Builders from the cradle mechanism at the Boat Works in the 1950s digitized from original 8mm film. Walk through a photo journey exhibit by Janet Martinez featuring the Siino master boat builders themselves,1930s historic photos of the Siino and Monterey Boat Works buildings and many boats built at the Monterey Boat Works throughout the decades 1930 - 1960s. Learn about the Siino-built 1930 General Pershing that was gifted back to the Siino family and why in 2019, they created the nonprofit, Monterey Boat Heritage, Inc. Mark will walk you through the preservation and history of this notable boat as well as goals for the future.

Dennis Corum, Board member lives in Washington and was able to pick up both the anchor and wheel. 
Hello. I got out to Bainbridge Island to meet Sharon and to pick up the anchor she had in her front yard. I'll probably store it in my yard for a while. I think it might be unlikely that it will be stolen by any well meaning thief. So, safe and sound for the time being. 
Are things beginning to dry out a little there, in California?
​Let me know if there are any other personal items of the General's that come to your attention. We like to keep a tidy ship.

Pershing’s wheel that my husband got from his Dad, L. Stearns, who was one of the boat’s skippers. My husband, would be thrilled to know it’s being reunited with the boat.
I have an old anchor in yard, that might also be from GP. Not sure, but definitely from one of his Dad’s boats. Don’t know if you have any idea about anchor, but you would be more than welcome to have it, if you think it belongs with the boat. I live on Bainbridge Island. I’m happy to take a photo tomorrow, if you like.

On 26 Nov. we received an email from Tacoma Washington: "​My grandfather was the captain or skipper of a boat called the General Pershing. It was based in Ballard Wa and it belonged to the Alaska Packers? I don’t know anything about boats but if your grandfather built this boat and it’s the same one, we have the original wheel from it. We wondered if you are interested in that? I can send you a picture. His name was Leland Stearns and it would have been in the 40’s maybe? 

Response:
Contact was made by phone and the likely hood of its connection to the General Pershing was established.
A Board Member, living in the Seattle area, made contact with its owner and made the arrangement to pick up the boat wheel.

They will plan a short vacation to Monterey to assist in the "Rudder Project." The couple has traveled the globe in search of scuba diving adventures.

Near home, James can be found under water feeding sharks in the aquarium's shark tank.
